This is a rewarding and social role where you’ll meet incredible people and gain hands-on experience unlike any other. That said, working with horses is physically demanding and requires commitment—this position is not for the faint-hearted.
We are looking for a part-time Horse Trail Guide (with the potential to progress to a full-time role) to join the Garden Route Horse Trails team. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding paying clients on outrides, assisting with day and multi-day trails, and, when required, helping with the training and schooling of new horses.
Our team is fully hands-on and deeply involved in the care of our equine family. This means the role goes beyond guiding and includes horse care, trail and camp maintenance, and testing new horses and rides—so be prepared to get your hands dirty.
We are seeking an energetic, outgoing, and passionate horse person who is eager to learn and open to new methods, particularly in natural horsemanship and western riding. At the same time, you should feel confident sharing your thoughts and contributing to the team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills, spend meaningful time in the saddle, and connect with both people and horses. The remuneration package will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, and on-site training will be provided.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a skills assessment at our George branch within a few days of selection, allowing us to get to know you better and ensure the right fit. Applicants must reside in George and hold a valid South African driver’s licence.
